|Thomas Does His Thing||Ivo Hugh's Quarry Predicament|
David is part of the Great Central Railway's class 9J. He had been withdrawn and almost scrapped in the January of 1958, but luckily the Fat Controller saved him. He was sent on a long, heavy overhaul which took until the March on 1964. He was finally ready to go back to work.
10 years later.
David is pulling a goods train on the Wellsworth-Brendam Branch Line. James arrives with some trucks from the Other Railway. He tells them they are very tricky, and David wonders about them.
The trucks decide to push him down the hill, but David, having worked with trucks on the Other Railway, knew this and told his Driver to brake slowly whilst going down. His Driver does so, but David is still going fast as he reaches Brendam.
Edward is horrified to see him coming so fast, but notices he is getting slower and slower and slower until finally he comes to a perfect stop in front of the crane.
Edward, the Dock Manager, and the workmen are surprised and give him a round of appluse for his quick clever thinking to stop a runaway train.
