Duncan's Predicament is the twelfth episode of the second season.
The narrow gauge engines worked hard at the Blue Mountain Quarry one evening. They talked about Duncan. The next morning, Duncan arrived. He was looking for trucks to pull, but doesn't find any.
Soon Duncan found two trucks and was soon coupled to them. Rheneas then chuffed up and told him that he is pulling his train, but Duncan puffed away altogether before Rheneas could finish.
Duncan met Skarloey at a junction. Skarloey was shunting trucks. Skarloey told him that his train was ready, but Duncan told him that he was pulling trucks already. Skarloey knew that Duncan was pulling Rheneas' train and tried to tell him, but Duncan chuffed away again. Rheneas quickly puffed up and told Skarloey that he was puffing after him, and Skarloey told him that he will tell the other engines about it.
The two engines chuffed off to their destination and soon, Sir Handel, Rusty, and Peter Sam chased Duncan to tell him about what he has done. Merrick and Owen have a conversation about what will happen next. Meanwhile, Duncan's driver put the brakes on and Duncan asked what his driver was doing. His driver explained what Rheneas and Skarloey had said, but Duncan didn't care. The driver continously tried to put on the brakes. Eventually, Duncan's brakes snapped.
His trucks give him a giant bump that was enough to send him up the hill. He whooshed down the hill and crashed at the bottom. Luckily his driver and fireman jumped out of his cab and weren't hurt. Duncan wished he listened to the other engines. His trucks were not injured and still on the track. Later the engines arrived to see Duncan. They told Duncan that they hoped he had learned his lesson, and indeed he had.
Soon Mr. Percival learned about the accident and arrives in a red car. The engines are puzzled, but Mr. Percival explained that it was Winston, a track inspection vehicle Sir Topham Hatt had purchased a couple of years ago and he told Mr. Percival he could borrow it. Winston had recently been given sone narrow guage wheels so he could travel on all the rails of Sodor. Mr. Percival then told Duncan he will be working at the Transfer Yards from now on. Duncan soon found himself working at the Transfer Yards with Freddie, Mighty Mac and Duke.
