Belle and Flynn were waiting for a workman to tell them there was a fire, but there wasn't. Belle waited and waited, and soon she was becoming impatient. Just then, Gordon rolled past to collect some Jobi wood and called Belle's water cannons undignified and disgraceful. Belle became sad. Henry puffed by a while later saying the cannons were unrealistic and dispicable. Belle was very upset, but Flynn told her not to listen. A quarter of an hour later, James rolled by with some goods from Misty Island and said that the water cannons were not useful and disgusting.
Belle felt useless and decided to quit the Rescue Team. Flynn tried to get her back, but she slumped away to a siding. Her driver tried to move her, but she wouldn't budge. She decided to not be called names by not being useful. Just then, Harold raced in! He said that a fire was raging at Maron. Now, Belle realized this could be her chance to pay the big engines out by being really useful,
She raced away to the rescue and soon arrived at Maron. Someone had thrown a cigarette onto sone dry grass and it caught ablaze. Thomas was collecting passengers, who were taking shelter inside Annie and Clarabel on one track, while Pip and Emma were collecting passengers on the other line. Some fire trucks raced in to help. Belle and the fire trucks quickly put out the fire. Everybody thought Belle's cannons were splendid, even if they were quite unsual. Flynn gave Gordon, Henry, and James a lecture about fire safety. They soon stopped teasing Belle, but only because Flynn put a stop to it.
